Looking at Puerto Vallarta Jalisco maybe five miles south.

On this blogger site one can click on all pictures except for the header above two times each time making them larger which is a feature I like because it gives you the ability to really look very close at all kinds of things not readily seen.

Lulu And I

UPDATE:
It needs to be said that the vegetables being grown here are completely organic.

Home alone Lulu needs to be fed a couple times a day along with two treats while Mom and Dad (I borrow that from Linda) are away for R&R. This is a good pooch and requires little and does not bug you.

Lulu has plenty to watch over. There are many vegetables being grown here all organic. Everything is sooo intense in color at times it doesn't look real especially the yellow squash.

I'll be back late this afternoon Lulu. I won't forget.

These pictures were taken this morning pretty early.

This Morning

No post about Costa Rica but here are some of the things I saw this morning. Most of these have been manipulated but it does look this green as there has been above average rains but not in the last few days.

Greenhorn Mountain. A few days ago I lived directly east of it 10-12 miles. Always the trains.

Two pictures from the same spot with the ever present Spanish Peaks in the back round.

Two things here. Left of dead center if you click on the picture is a starting gate that is used for racing horses. This is a practice area as there is a jockey who lives here and racers here before them.

The other  is the water. With the moisture we've had you see water all over the place like this. Ranchers built small holding ponds but you never notice them because there has been no water to hold. They didn't do this because it was fun. They did it because it used to rain more than it does and they were trying to capture all they could. There is no building of these nowadays that that I see.

I found these plums the other day walking. They're not quite ready but when they are I will get some for sure.  When I was a kid back in the cornfield a highlight was the wild fruits including mulberries. They were all over and plums found more along railroad tracks.

This looks more interesting in person than in this  picture.

My new place. I like it here. I can't believe how quite and peaceful it is. I have a great back yard and soon the spare bedroom will be parked in it's already made special place.

See You Long Time

Oh my! Even surprised myself at it being almost five months. In defense of not having a defense I will say that I was sick for a month after returning to Colorado at the end of March. Plain lost interest I guess. Not satisfied with picture results and have been completely caught up the last two months with a sale of property and a move to a new home. Stuff like that. Most of it is done except for a couple tasks of winterizing to be done. This is what I wrote at the other place -

One thing has struck me in the last couple months and that is so many people I meet have/are or are going to have significant changes in their lives. It may be by choice or not. Might not be for the better either but it's happening. More boomers than not like myself. Needs to be said as well that not as many but there are a good number who just wanna keep on working.

I asked Fred how long he'd been selling insurance. "Right at 42 years". Ever think about hanging it up? Fred responded with "I'll probably do it to the end". If that's what gets people off good on you.

I sold the small RV I had to a young lady who was educated, hard traveled just returning from Thailand. She was excited about life and understood the simple things can bring pleasure and great quality of life. Disappointed too after seeing what's out there and where we are at here.

My changes in the last two years have been by choice. The place I was living was sold and I moved to town. I never imagined this was going to be the place. In came together in a coincidental way - the way things happen to me including a time many years ago with some of the same players.

I am excited in the changes I made for myself. It is the beginning of a completely new and different chapter in my life. It feels good and am soooo fortunate to have what I have. Knowing a move was inevitable (plus it was faster than anticipated) I find that the criteria I wanted in my life was here - almost every bit of it and just didn't see it.

I hope to post more now. The move is over and just about settled in. One of criteria I had was to walk or bike whenever possible. Have been doing both quite a bit. Friday I actually had a purpose for pedaling and it was to deliver some the best ever sweet corn I picked up for the second time in Pueblo to some long time friends here in Walsenburg.  I went down.

Point being - - - - - WEAR GLOVES. If I hadn't had them on it would have been the emergency room for sure. It's not the first time gloves saved my butt. My hands are hurt the worst and I'm thinking two weeks anyway but it's fine damn day and I have a smile on my face.

I do have two posts on Costa Rica. I will get the one up soon. It's all been ready to go except for me I guess.

Thanks for stopping by.

Unusual At The Very Least

Along the road I walk everyday I was in a drainage ditch where I was hoping to get a picture of a dragonfly. That has not happened yet nor did it this time. This place is old and find it interesting and it's for sale. A lot of things are for sale here.
A younger guy rode up and parked. He saw I was taking pictures and led me to the back of the house where there was water running and a small pool. There were a few larger fish and a good size crab as well.
So I was just hanging around when I saw something flying at me. It was the most unusual thing and very hard to make out as it was not small. At times you could not follow it not because it was fast either. It never landed.

Here is the video and you can get an idea of what I mean. You have to look very close and at first it's higher up and in front of the tree. There are a couple places where you can see it fairly well. I can't slow this video down but when I get home I will.

I never knew for sure where this was at. Like in the video if you can see it I could but other than that I was just watching for it. I'm going back down there. There was another fairly unusual thing that happened as well but the video did not capture like I thought it would. Glad I saw this!

I just looked at my pictures from this and got lucky and did get a picture of this and it appears to be a type of dragonfly. This is zoomed in on a bunch but you can tell.
I do not remember seeing anything quite like this before.

This Morning 3/17/13

It's been a bit lax around here I know. Caught up in life I guess and trust me it's very simple.. Every day I see something different meaning here like at the beginning of this video. I generally in the morning walk up to the top of this hill and beyond. What you see here and there's not much happening is what it's like here almost every day. I do not tire os seeing the same thing on a daily basis.

Soon I will walk the other way into town where I may get a bite to eat probably sit in the park and cool off or what have you. Eventually head back home clean up maybe have a beer cook supper watch a movie go to bed and do the same tomorrow.

Scheduled to return on the 28th but considering a week earlier like this coming Wed. The weather isn't all that great but there are some things I can do. Later.

There's This Certain Saying

"Se monto enn la carretta" that started here in Atenas many years ago and is still used. I saw this just the other day.

Oxen are used to pull ox carts and they still do. For a long time many plied the roads hauling mostly coffee and and other goods. I've only seen one ox cart. Two with this one at a small park.
Atenas is known for it's ox carts and this is the only real cart I've seen and it's on the road to town.
Barrio Los Angeles where I stay is actually the old road into Atenas. It dead ends about a half mile away where it begins a rather steep descent to a river. Moon shining was going on in days gone past and I understand recently somebody was making some. A friend and I made it down on what is left of the road. We took machete's and if it had not been for a fire I doubt we would have been able to discern where the road was. It was on this not too long of a hike saw a sloth which was nice.

There were as many as 400 carts a day using this road. So there was some drinking going on and when some guys got too drunk to walk along side their team of oxen to direct them they got on top of the ox cart.

In present day when the local's see an inebriated person they say that phrase "se monto enn la carretta" which translates to "looks like that person is on top of the ox cart".

I think that's is soooo funny. You can go here and see some real ox carts just the way they used to be back in those days.

Plenty Monkey's

Things have been pretty lax around here. The internets were gone for the last two days. It seems I'm caught up in a lifestyle here that has been totally enjoyable to me.

I have had two adjustments in the last two weeks because some of the issues from before were returning. This has helped. What's interesting about that is the chiro's I'm seeing in Atenas were taught by the brother of my chiropractor who adjusts me in Denver.

Anyway we're on a down hill slide. My world is small but I walk and eat all the time. It's mah job and meat and vegetables are more than just good. I will miss these foods and the intensity of the flavors. Last week at the market the the produce was amazing.

I did see these monkey's early morning on the 5th. My pictures have not been all that good. Videos are better so I'm going there a bit more. This is the first time I've seen monkey's this close in their own environment. It was a treat.

My world is small but ever so full. Generally walk to town and probably eat somewhere and stop and pick up what I need someplace and walk home. By then it's noon or after and before ya know it it's three in and the afternoon. Time to start winding down for the day. See new birds most everyday as before going to town generally go the other way as there are nice shorter walks with overlooks that are very cool as well early in the morning.

Stuff like that friends. Yes it's a small world but it's also huge too.

Just Saying

Here in Costa Rica wages are not high with two bucks an hour being somewhat the norm. It seemed odd that people didn't make much but everyone was spending it.

I spoke to an expat who has been coming here for some ten years who told me about how things had changed during that time and particularly in the last four or five. It's simple - credit cards. Even granny the 90 year old matriarch of the Tican family he's been staying with most of the time was solicited no questions asked with a card and a 3,000,000 line of credit ($6000).

A day or two after that conversation this piece came out in the ticotimes.net.

Are Ticos getting hooked on credit cards?

After asking some more questions the answer is most certainly yes. The banks are flooding this country with credit. Credit Costa Rican's have never had before.

It's unfortunate and when the bill comes due for many it will not be a good day.

Just saying!

A Left And A Right

A left and a right jab from Minou then work him into the corner and two more lefts just to remind Ripette the hierarchy around this place. Those are bird nests the cat is playing with at the beginning.

You Tube Google And Me

UPDATE #2: 3/22 I have the channel back to the way it was. It wasn't that hard but it's stressful in the sense that you could lose all that you put into it.

UPDATE: They are back and viewable.

For the second time I have lost my You Tube account so no videos below will play.

I got it back last time and I would be devastated if I did not this time.

This annoys me and is toooo stressful. It is hard to find the correct avenue to contact them. This happened when I found not by choice to have been "up graded" to Google +. For several reasons I do not want this and when I tried to go back to just plain old Google my YTube account and channel "OneFlyOnly" was gone. I can still see it but of course nothing plays and it's inaccessible.

This is a real clean place but have to add a huge damn it anyway!
