Past Due In Cimarron

What's normal anymore I'm not sure. It's been a long time since a post has been made here. Can't say when the next one will be but I do intend to contribute more to this site for reasons specific to me at least that's what I'm thinking now. It's not that I quit it was because I wasn't seeing anything that fired me up. Even this isn't anything special other than it's time to participate again.

Not too long ago went to Cimarron New Mexico. It's close at a 100 miles. Went into Taos for a day as it's a short fun 50 through the northern mountains of the state.  

This town the area and the St. James Hotel is rich in the history of the old west. I urge you to copy&paste to learn for yourself but I will throw in a few things. Nothing special about the pictures except for a couple possibly.

Remember about how they get big twice if you click on them.

This remains pretty much the way it was.

The swinging doors that lead to the rooms down stairs and to the stairway to the upstairs rooms which are the ones that are available to the public.

A lot of the biggies stayed here both good and bad.

People were killed in the rooms too. I'm not sure about the upstairs.

Here in the bar area quite a few got hammered.

Plenty bullet holes in the ceiling so maybe somebody caught one.

This was a recent entry that was on the table. Things go on here all the time and I was told that for a day a week paranormal types set up cameras. I didn't see anything on my pictures. Don't let yourself get spooked now.

Here's the local jail. You didn't want to get locked up in a jail like this in those days because you're not breaking out of this one.

These are some shots of the local cometary. Of course some of the past local players are there.

The local mill and now museum is pretty impressive.

And worth a visit.

What's unique about this mill is that the water wheel is inside the building.

It's still cowboy country out here.

Not far away is another cemetery from a town that for the most part has disappeared.

This would not be a bad place to hole up for the rest of eternity if that was your choice.

These are just some random shots while I was in Taos.

There are more things to buy and more stores to buy these things in you wouldn't believe.

I do very much like this architecture.

These are living structures of some sort. Ya I could live here real easy.

If it weren't for the tree this would be a pretty decent picture.

Of all of them I like this the best and is was just off the Plaza in Taos.

I was in the area the 1st of June and it was just late spring. The aspens still had a way to go before they were leafed out completely.

We be small fry's in this business. At least their generator was real quiet.

Recent Roadtrip

A couple weeks ago drove through some of the mountains in SW Colorado. It was just awsome as they say. Very impressive. What a great place to be able to live.

Recent Life

It has been a long time since a post has been made here. Over two months. A lot has happened. I shared a bit here and the pictures below except for the first two are from yesterday.

Morning walks at home have been very pretty.

This camera I have which has been around for some time takes such good macros. This critter was not very big at all.

This is the first time out with this. Lets call it the tweeking run.

This is just outside Logan,NM. Took a number of pictures and this one stood out a bit.

A couple fellows came out and flew planes.

This man could fly his plane better than good. Everything was electric including the tire pump all using the same batteries.

Ute Lake SP has a number of communities like this one close to the lake. There is seldom a run down place and am struck by how clean and well cared for most of these places are. That and the diversity of what was done to each to fit the needs and whims of those living there. Kinda cool actually.

All in all this works pretty well. It should as it cost a lot. If the manufacturer would take just a few minutes more overall the end result would be much better.

On a different note if by the luck of the draw anyone has a lead on the southern Baja for a place to stay for a couple months that would be really nice. Have had no luck finding much at all and I know they are out there.

The First Dust

Pictures from today showing what was left from night before last. It was 42 this morning but is still 80 at 6pm. Don't get much better and 18% humidity.

A couple things. If you live someplace where you can see when it snows on nearby mountains - eventually it will get cold and probably do the same thing where you live.

Only one shot of the Sangre's to the north and the rest the Spanish Peaks and the Culebra's to the west and south from them. The Culebra's are part of the Sangre de Christo range according to Wikipedia but you can bet the locals do not call the Sangre's.

What this is really about is that when the Folks would come visit around this time of year and if the dreaded four letter word that started with an "s" was mentioned or happened like the pictures show you would not believe how fast the Old Man could get outta Dodge and that's a fact.

On Taking Train Photos - Rule #1

Don't stand there and get hit. This was stopped so I felt real safe.

Having said that this guy needs to be more careful crossing what can be a couple busy streets here. Find myself being a bit lax sometimes. Maybe that's what happened to this poor fellow.

Day Tripping

Needed to have an adjustment and blasted up to Denver to see Doc. This morning there is a difference as there were issues plus complications from the bike crash a month ago tomorrow. Still several weeks away before it gets back close to normal. Chiropractics have helped me soooo much.

It was all pretty easy. Left early and drove the couple miles to the interstate. Get on it drive about 160 north take a right turn go about a dozen blocks or so and another right turn and you're there.

I have always liked the architecture along the south part of Denver. Many of these buildings are getting some years on them but still look quite modern.

After getting worked on stopped at a place close by that I came across last time and had me some Pad Thai. Pretty good.

Headed south after that and stopped and saw my neighbor friends from Costa Rica. Ken has this very cool small still.

They live in this funky kinda neighbor just off of downtown Colorado Springs in a old house with some pretty old fixtures still being used. 

Blasted outta there as stops needed to be made in Pueblo. Stopped at a hitch place to inquire about getting one installed on my Element. After doing a bit of checking theirs must be made out of silver.

Stopped and saw my brother who now lives close by in that area. Visited a bit and headed to my one of my meat markets of choice as I have been very disappointed with what I've bought here in Walsenburg. I don't care what anyone says the meat we buy in the States is not very good and as a general rule neither are the fruits and vegetables.

This is a busy place and has not been open that long. A Mexican Meat Market. You betcha.

You can buy meat here that actually has flavor and there is quite a selection. I stock up.

My other meat market of choice in Blende. They cut me very thin pork blade steak with bone in. Thick cut pork is not very good at all at least to me. I bought a pork shoulder steak the other day here and it may have been one of the worst pieces of pig I've ever had. Not the case here though. I did not stop here today. 

I continued out east of Blende to Vic Morrow's place and picked up some of the best sweet corn that can be had in these parts plus other things as well. Most of what you see is grown here.

Got done here and drove the 50 or so miles home. Eleven and a half hours or so and 345 miles the work for the day was over.

It was a good day trip with a lot getting accomplished. I will be eating real good the next week or so. It's the best time of the year for that.

Human What?

After years of using not all that cheap plastic 13 gal trash cans and having seen one of these Fly splurged and entered the upscale  world of where you put your house garbage. This along with special bags that can't be seen was supposed to cost right at a hundred. Amazon gave me 50 if I got a credit card from them so I did and it cost $49 and change. I'm busy not doing much and haven't cut up the card yet.

This is real nice and the lid don't slam shut. For 50 smacks you'd hope that anyway. It works very well. Plus - - - 

it looks real good in the new place.

I'll generally pick up a penny but three quarters laying in the road where I walk get jumped on. Plus the one the night before at the swings in the park.
