Looking at Puerto Vallarta Jalisco maybe five miles south.

On this blogger site one can click on all pictures except for the header above two times each time making them larger which is a feature I like because it gives you the ability to really look very close at all kinds of things not readily seen.

Sunday Stills First Time Out

Was going to use the Stones because very recently was around way too many gem stones and such but thought of the song "Two Lane Highway"  and pulled out several and all are windshield shots. Sometimes it works most of the time not so much.  We take pictures of anything here anyway. Thanks for the visit. OF

You can click on the pictures twice here and make them bigger each time for a real good look.

Does this look like Wyoming.
There is a hill in South Dakota. It was the unusual cloud that this got taken.

You remember Forrest Gump I'm sure.

Well west of Craig,CO heading east. You may think it's almost like Wyoming. It is.
Craig,Co  again with 50 more miles to go to arrive at Da Boat that you can see in the distance.

Here's the song and it still lives today because it's that good. It's all like a moving picture these two-lane highways.

It's A Frog - - But

This is a Gray Tree Frog not uncommon at all.  It was new to me though and had never seen a frog with suction cup feet either. These cooperated so well was able to get some real good shots.

In addition these frogs change color like chameleons but not as quickly. You can see the difference in color with the two above and these two below.

It's not a big deal but I sure enjoyed seeing these animals like this. The only frogs I remember were leopard and bull frogs as a kid.

The End Of A Mountain Range

This is Greenhorn Mountain and has an elevation of 12,352 feet. It's named for this.
From Wiki-
The name comes from a name Cuerno Verde (Green Horn) given by the Spanish of the Provincias Internas to two, father and son, Jupe Comanche band mahimiana paraibo or war chiefs. The younger Cuerno Verde was known to the Comanches as "Man Who Holds Danger." On September 3, 1779 younger Cuerno Verde, along with his son, medicine man, 4 principal chiefs and 10 of his warriors, was killed near the Greenhorn Mountain by the men of the expedition of Spanish troops and native American allies (Apache, Ute and Pueblo) under Juan Bautista de Anza.

Also Greenhorn is at the end of a small mountain range called the Wet Mountains.

A  saved Google image that shows the Wet mountain range that extends from Canyon City to here. The pictures are taken looking west and is what I see where everyday.

It's Tough For A Duck Around Here

Ran across this yesterday. It's not unusual at all to see where a bird has met it's demise when out and about.

I think this is from a Canadian goose. All there was here was feathers and an egg.

I believe this bird actually tried to nest here and the egg was actually layed here.

I did break this open as I was curious. Should have brought it home and ate it. These birds lay 3-8 eggs.
There was no signs of a nest and the river bottom is close by and  geese do not build nests in the open. Islands are good but there are none here.

I think this bird for whatever reason needed to lay an egg and was attacked almost immediately and was carried off. This egg was not ripped from the body.

Nature is harsh. In fact my curiosity is up here as this doesn't all make sense. I'm going back down there to look this over again. Fact of the matter is I've never seen a Canadian around here that I can recall.

March 21 Early

Sun just came up. Birds are and have been singing for several weeks. It's 17 degrees and headed into a huge warm-up. Spring is getting very close.

Wind Power

Did not know of this until a week later and got down to it a couple days ago. It's like 6 miles south of here. Last week there was one parked on the siding for several days which was part of the train that derailed.  That must have been damaged but didn't notice anything.  They don't look good on the ground that's for sure.

In a way  this reminds me of my uncle's Leader Dog who himself became blind.

To get to where this happened their is a back way. That back way is still there but now features a locked gate that I do not have a key to. But I do have a smaller motorcycle that goes under fences quite nicely quickly and easily. That back way comes out on a county road. About 3.5 miles away. To drive from here to the same spot is 18 miles. From that point it was still 2.5 miles away and I rode right to it. If I had driven it would have been 16.5 plus two miles walking just one way.

About Antelope

An illustrative short video that isn't all that good by any means but indicates that numbers of antelope from what I've seen around here is increasing and I'm good with that.

More importantly is an example from north east New Mexico taken on New Years Day this year that people have a responsibility to the animals they occupy the same ground with to not unnecessarily harm them like I feel was done here.

This was the nastiest fence I think I've ever seen. It's very hard to tell but it's not three not four but five wire fence with not one but two upright supports in between the steel posts.  There's a reason I know but - - -

Pueblo Colorado

At least a little bit of it anyway. Last week I had to spend the whole day there and here are some of the things I saw with a bit of explanation. This is a interesting small city.

I saw this fellow from a ways away struggling  trying to take his own picture of this beautiful fish. I did it for him with his own camera and got this one with mine. It's the only one and happy it came out as good as it did. I've never caught anything close to this color of red.

I have this thing about "old" beveled glass doors like these. There are a number of different configurations and they'll all so cool. Hotel Vail is now apartments and the doors were locked and I wanted inside bad!

I want very much to take pictures with certain parameters with beveled glass doors being the center piece. I think the results could be real cool. You do not see many around here. I'm hoping to get lucky this spring when I'm around the Mississippi River and get inside one of these old old house above the river that's loaded with features like this. I would very much enjoy that. I'm always looking for the beveled glass but I just don't see it here.

The lobby has so many stories I'm sure.
I could live here too.

What is called the River  Walk where the Arkansas River  was partially diverted to flow through the old part of Pueblo. It's pretty neat trendy and upscale.

An old steamer out back of the train station.
In side the depot which has been remodeled and I'm not sure what is original. No matter what they did it must have been a fun place to start or end a train trip.

I couldn't figure out what this was at first then I remembered I sat the camera right on the counter. It's interesting.
Some other pictures of buildings in the same general area and one of an old sign.

If gas goes to 5 bucks a gallon driving the 40 miles up to here may be all the adventure I can afford. There are other places here I want to explore the zoo being one of them.  This was a great day.

Kat Moves

Think I understand about this kitty and it's behavior. I've mentioned before this cat does not play except with it's tail. I believe it may have been a bit abused because it scares so easily and after being scared or accidentally stepping on one of it's feet it cringes in fright. She does other things too that seem odd and my brother pointed out  it does so because it's the only way it can feel safe and that's exactly correct.

The other safe place besides inside here is the garage close by which has to be it's home when I'm not here and when it gets nicer out. It does venture out a bit but is slinky at all times. This kitty can hunt as I've seen it with a rabbit and a dove. This is a very nice cat.

Because of it's abused childhood Stretch forgets those times by burying it's head in the food bowl often. This cat can eat and drink I tell you. It's nice out and she's going to spend the rest of the day outside.

Yesterday was the first time I really saw this cat do something like this. At first it didn't pay attention to the laser. It took two days and finally I got it to go after it. There's more coming for sure.
