Yes it's brown here - very brown because it's so very dry. Many fires are burning in the West and in Colorado. There was a 300 acre fire just over the hill day before yesterday and this morning there is little haze and no smell of fire from anywhere. It will reach 100+ again today. Most plants are done with their life cycle.
The pictures today are illustrative more than anything else.
There are a lot of bull snakes around.
This is Greenhorn Mountain.
There may be a green tint to things but it's deceiving. Just like what Stretch is attempting here. Click on the picture a couple times and take a look. She had already hammered a young one and momma came very close but I scared it away before - well you know.
It's not that bad really. This guy might come close to six feet long. He's just around and see it in the evenings. He gets free reign because remember -bull snakes kill rattle snakes. I have not seen one of those this year and that is fine by me.

Es ist schon erstaunlich wie viele Brände es dort gibt in diesen Weiten...
ReplyDeleteCiao
CL
I'm sorry Cloudy but I can't get this translated.
DeleteJust look at that sneaky cat! Glad you scared it away... Sorry...don't care that it's a bull snake...Yuk! Favorite is the one with your shadow in it.
ReplyDeleteEven with the snake in it TMoon??
ReplyDeleteCool shots..:-)
ReplyDeleteNope! Now my favorite is the first one...no snakes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mountain view.
ReplyDeleteLots of different browns. We're brown down here in New Mexico, too. Need some rain!

We brake for snakes!!! I'm not really (sort of/almost) afraid of them. But if they keep the mice population down...I'll keep them around.
ReplyDeleteGood shots. Hazy here...too many fires around us!

Very dry here too and fire season has started already. Holy cow I can't believe all your snakes yet there you are shooting pics of them! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of bull snakes before and I admit I am not fond of snakes :(
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the comments. Stretch don't even want to come inside these days and is taking a toll on wildlife. She doesn't understand that she is being hunted too.
ReplyDeleteSnakes do not bother me that much but then again I have not even seen a rattler come wandering in. If I did that thing would be history so very quick.
I think even more fires started today.
So just a bit ago the Kat wanted to come in and after a bit it spies something out the window and here it's another snake. At least it's not a rattler because it's red. I assume it was a "Red Racer" which I guess it was because when it took off it was soooo fast I tell you.
ReplyDeleteToo many snakes there for me! You can have some of our rain, by the way.
ReplyDeleteWonder views, snakes and all! I love your header BTW! My Granddad was a Santa Fe man, and I love trains!
ReplyDeleteThank you VGirl. I like trains as well and there is track close here as well. The header picture actually is not mine but I have many of the very same area in NW Colorado and same shot but my Amtrac pics didn't work. George owed me anyway.
DeleteGreat pictures, and there's really a lot of browns hiding there when you zoom in. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat there is Eva and not necessarily in a good way to me. Thanks Eva!
DeleteYour shots of brown are very interesting and the bull snake can certainly start a conversation! Here in Missouri we are sharing your 100 degree temps and we are dry and windy. We need rain! I am so sorry about the fires. It has been a crazy bad year weather wise. I willbe following you by email subscription, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here!
ReplyDeleteSame back to you as I want to see what you put up next as well. Thank you.
